The Complaint to WDFW re: Robert Humphrey baseless charges re elk hunt, trespassing by WDFW agents

Below is a link to a copy of the complaint I filed with the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission on the department's investigation into Robert Humphrey for supposed Unlawful Hunting in the Second Degree in Columbia County. Robert Humphrey was hunting in Oregon, and the agents claimed he was actually in Washington, and were slow to admit they were wrong.

The complaint is referenced in a recent Spokesman Review article. The article mentions the failure of the WDFW to properly investigate the matter, but the article does not mention that the agents trespassed on the land of Robert Humphrey even though the property was clearly posted. The agents were asked: "You came across this gate that said no trespassing, that you guys are trespassing? The agents responded "I did not see a no trespassing sign."  Sgt. Mosman later claimed in an interview that he did not see the signs as he drove in even though two signs were clearly post at eye level on both sides of the narrow, fenced driveway.  There is an irony in game agents claiming they didn't see "no trespassing" signs when they, in turn, cite members of the public all the time for trespassing when these people claim to not see the signs.  And how can the agents claim that Mr. Humphrey was in a place he wasn't supposed to be when they were not in a place where they were allowed to be?  I look forward to hearing back from the WDFW as to why the game agents handled this matter they way they did.  Sometimes a simple apology goes a long way.
